The man was described as being a young- looking Caucasian with a medium build. The family’s dog was in the back yard barking at something over the fence. Police believe the break-in was interrupted by the res- ident’s return home. Nothing was reported stolen; @ 1300-block Crescent: 2:45 p.m. This time the returning resident found a man trying to open the back door of the house. The would-be burglar ran. He is described as being a Caucasian, 35 to 40 years old, 1.70 m (5’7") with curly short blond or red hair. He was wearing a light-colored sweater; 82 1200-block of Sowden: 2:50 p.m. A resident came home to find the house ransacked. Cash and jewelry were stolen. Police believe the bur- glar got inte the home through an insecure window. Nothing was reported taken; B 1200-block of Sowden: 5 p.m. A resident came home to find a back door kicked in, The ransacked home was missing “gold,” a BC Rail ring and cash; @ 1300-block Cottonwood: 5:10 p.m. A door was forced open at this home. Drawers were ransacked. Jewelry and cash were stolen. Galliford said the Norgate area does not have higher numbers of break-ins than other areas of North Vancouver. She said that the Capilano area, Central Lonsdale and Lower Lonsdale have higher incidents of break-ins than other areas. Anyone with information about the break-ins is asked to call the burglary section of the North Vancouver RCMP at 985-1311.
