Wednesday, October 23, 1991 — North Shore News — § COUNCIL BRIEFS NVC open house NORTH VANCOUVER City is holding an open house Thursday through Saturday to allow the public to view the city’s npdated Official Commi-aity Plan (OCP). Proposed changes for some areas of the current OCP, which was adopted in 1980, include heritage areas, Lions Gate Hospita! and the waterfront. City staff will be on hand to answer questions and listen to comments from the public. The open house will be held at North Vancouver city hall, 141 West 14th St., from 1-8 p.m. on Oct. 24, from 1-4:30 p.m. on Oct. 25 and froin 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Oct. 26. North Vancouver City Council will hold public meetiags on the updated OCP in 1992. Buses blasted A NUMBER of letters from Westmount area residents to West Vancouver District Council indicate a negative response to the new Horseshoe Bay Express Bus route, which has edded an extra 30 trips per day up and down 31st Strect and Westmount Read. Residents complained about the noise and fumes caus- ed by the buses as the vehicles labor up the steep grades; other. residents uoted that relatively few people board the bus at either Park and Ride locations, Westmount or 3ist and Marine Dis: Curbs converted THE INSTALLATION of curbside depressions aiong Moustain Highway between Cedar Village Crescent and Lyno Valley Centre sud along the south side of 27th Street will open the Lynn Valley core area to wheelchair access from both nosth and south. North Vancouver District Council bas approved funds of up to $11,000 for the 22 depressions that will make the route wheelchair accessible aad thus provide a degree of freedom and independence to those confined to wheelchairs. Bowen Island deveiopment submission numbers corrected A FRIDAY, Oct. 18 News story mistakenly reported that 49 out of 72 written submissions read into the record at a Bowen Island public meeting were opposed to the $120-million Cowan Point de- velopment. If fact, 49 out of 121 written submissions were opposed to the development. Seventy-two of the written submissions supported the Cowan Point project. The meeting alse heard 34 ver- bal submissions: 20 opposed and 14 in suppert. One of the 14 ver- bal presentations in support repre- sented the South Bowen Com- munity Association, which is made up of over 100 adjoining property-owners and residents who are most directly affected by the Cowan Point project.
