Bim returns to the stage| Reader’s Series kicks off

NORTH VANCOUVER'S Koy
Forbes returns to the stage April
27 and 28 at the Commodore
Ballroom as his old self, Bim.

Having dropped the name
years ago Forbes has resurrected
Bim, along with his 10-year-old
rock band for The Return of the
Bim Rock Band concert.

“It's a walk down memory
lane,’’ says Forbes, ‘I haven’t
performed some of these songs in
10 years.”’

Catch Me have been dusted off
and updated by a band that in-
cludes guitarist Dan Smith and
vocalist Sue Leonard, who has
just returned from a tour as
back-up vocalist for k.d. lang.

Co-op Radio’s Vancouver Ex-
tract Program, which is
celebrating its 15th anniversary.

MARK ARMANINI and Trevor Carolan kick off the
Deep Cove Reader's Series with an evening of con-
temporary poetry and music tomorrow night at
Chefi's, 4371 Gallant Street.

The two combine literary, musical and spiritual in-
fluences for the event.

A former) Lynn Canyon resident, Armanini.
twice-winner of the Jean Coulthard Scholarship, is
_ gpresident of the Vancouver Pro Musica. His primary
interests are in acoustic music and writing for strings
and voice.

North Vancouver's Carolan is a poet, writer and
editor of The Polestar Writer's Calendar. He's
published two books: Closing The Circle and The
Book of Heart.

His anthology Rim of Fire: Short Stories From the
Pacific Rim will be published in 1991 and will be
followed by an Asian travel journal, The Pillow Talk
of Dr. Jazz, and Bie Whiskers Saves the Cove, an en-
vironmental mystery for youngsters. He currently
teaches writing at Douglas College
