The first clinic runs July 6 to 10, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Cost is $30. The second clinic runs August 4 to 7, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Cost is $24. Both clinics will be taught by veteran skateboarding champ John Kriegor. Currently ranked third in Canada in the freestyle skateboar- ding category, Kriegor has I! years of experience that includes teaching his sport at the Kitsilano Community Centre and Granville Island Water Park. Kriegor will stress safety and in- jury prevention throughout both clinics and will teach participants proper stance, strong basic skill development, street and freestyle skateboarding. In five half-day workshops, girls from nine to 12 years old can have hands-on experience in a variety of activities involving physics, .chem- istty and biology. Participants will find out how to fix a bicycle, use common carpentry tools, build a motor and how living organisms function. Three trained instructors will provide individual attention in this program, which runs at Delbrook Community Centre from July 13 to 17, 9 a.m. to noon. An all-round entertainer, Williams tells tales of the old west, impersonates screen stars and plays the mandolin. Country music and square danc- ing, led by the centre’s Harry Somerville, will also be part of the celebrations.
