GREY CUP is going to be extra special for cheerleader Carla Felicella. The 20-year-old West Vancouver woman was chosen Miss B.C. Lions this month, and will repre- sent the team throughout Grey Cup Week, beginning Nov. 23, ard on the day of the Grey Cup, WV City executive Fd Raymond to retire! NORTH VANCOUVER Ci- ty administrator Ed Ray- mond wil) retire next year after over 15 years in the position. Raymond, 61, announced to council Monday he will leave his post in February of next year. He told the News that he and his wife have plans to travel, but notes there are no definite plans as yet. “i'd like to see China, Aust-alia and New ealand,’’ he says. ‘There are all kinds of places, but China seems to be in the forefront.”* Iu 1966, Raymond was hired as the deputy city clerk and assumed the position of city administrator when the post was created in Oc- tober of 1971. He has held the job ever since. *‘At the moment no one par- ticular item sticks out as being more important than any other,”’ he says of his 15-year career as city administrator. ‘‘Probably the deci- sions on the Lonsdale Quay — it was quite progressive and dynarric.”” CITY administrator Ed Ray- mond...retiring. While Raymond admits he does not expect to miss his former job once he is retired, he does say that most of the time he has enjoyed his work. Although he is four years shy of the city’s mandatory retirement age of 65, Raymond says he is retiring because he would like to do other things and has got to the point where he no longer needs a paying job. “So If shouldn't hold one in view of the economic situation of our country,”’ he explains. ‘‘But | would still like to work in the community.”’ As for the next city ad- ministrator, Raymond says the person ‘‘should have different qualities than I have.”’ With computers making their way into all areas of society, in- cluding municipal government, Raymond feels a good grasp of computer capabilities is necessary. “And | would always hope we have a strong people person,’ he stresses. ‘‘That’s one quality [ think shouldn't change.’’ Nov. 30, in Vancouver. “It's going to be fun,’’ Felicella. “Especially since it's going to be on my home turf.”” Felicella was selected over 16 other squad members who applied from 2 team of 22. She practises with the cheerleading squad twice a week, for six hours, and is often involved in club promotions on the weekends. B.C. Lions Club marketing assistant Della Maisey said the club .C. Lions feels Fehicella has a good chance to win Miss Grey Cup.
