REGULATION OF
DANGEROUS GOODS
in the
DISTRICT OF
NORTH VANCOUVER

On March 29th, 1982, the Council authonzed the
preparation of amendments to three District bylaws
to provide for the regulation of dangerous goods In
summary, the amendments are as follows

1 Fire Bylaw
The storage and dispensing of dangerous goods
would be regulated with particular reference to
chlorine, compressed natural gas, liquid natural
gas and liquid petroleum gas The bylaw would

come into effect on August 31st, 1982

Street and Traffic Bylaw
Transportation of dangerous goods would be
limited. with certain exceptions. to dangerous
goods routes as designated on a plan in the
bylaw Picking up and delivering dangerous
goods within the District would be limited to the
hours from 18 00 of one day to 06 O00 of the
next unless a permit is obtained trom the Fire
Chet The bylaw would come into effect on Oc
tober 31st. 1982

Zening Bylaw
The present extent) of the manufacturing of
dangerous goods would be permitted. but any in
crease in present Capacity or the establishment
ot new plants for the manutactuning of dangerous
goods would be prombdited The bylaw would
come into effect in June 1982

A public meeting on the above amendments to the

Fire Bylaw the Street and Traffic Bylaw and the
Zoning Bylaw will be held by Council at the
Municipal Hall 355 West Queens Hoad on May
