1175 West 14th Street, North Vancouver, B.C. January 12, 1979 4 “Telephones: 984-0374 - 984-0375 Bob Graham, Associate Publisher, North Shore News Bob, I thought I'd start '79 with a brief note to you about the role played by advertising in our business during the past year. AS you know, the increased advertising program begun in late ‘77 was continued with good-size ads in both the Wednesday and Sunday issues of the News. Our objective. was to get more customers com- directly to us rather than by referral. The increase in our retail business over that period was very impressive. Compared with '77, the volume has more than doubled. | | The best single promotion we ran was in the Sunday News of June 4.. A special on air conditioner tune-ups created line-ups of cars on i) Monday moriiing and we were booked solid for the next two weeks. Nor Est Radiators has been advertising in the News since long be- fore it was even called the News and in the 25-plus years we've been in business on the North Shore we've worked on almost 200,000 cars. Judging by our growth in ‘78, advertising has played a big part in bringing a lot of those customers té6 us. ; Yours truly, John Lockwood
