World Belly-Flop and cae

ships from North Vancouver -
will be viewed by a network
-television audience of mil-
lions throughout the U.S.
Sunday, February 4.

NBC will air the event,
pre-taped on the North Shore
in late July, over 218 stations
as a major segment of NBC
SportsWorld. The show will
telecast locally via its Seattle
affiliate KING-TV (Channel
5) at },p.m. (PST).

Colour commentary will be
shared by NBC regular Mike
Adamle and comedian Arte
Johnson.

**Super-Flop IV"’, taped at
the pool of the Coach House
Inn, brings together 18
international entries, rang-
ing in weight from a
minimum 250 pounds to a
whopping 425 pounds.

Protagonists include two-
time world champion Butts
Giraud, a 250 pound T-shirt,
retailer from Gastown; and
defending champion Jake

Decker, a 325- -pound trucker,
reformed bootlegger and
occasional Santa Claus from
Marpole.

Judges will include Pres-
idential Brother Billy Carter,
columnist George Daacon of
Honolulu, Earle Bradford of
CKNW and Mayor Tom
Constable of Burnaby.

Cameo appearances are
expected from official scorer
Mayor Don Bell of the
District of North Vancouver,
innkeeper Colin

Southcombe, Billy Carter’s
teenage son Buddy, life-
guard Terry Moore of CJOR
and the band of the 15th
Field Artillery.

Meanwhile, Tom Butler of
Vancouver, president of
_World Belly-Flop and Can-
nonball-Diving Champion-
ships Inc., announced that
NBC has exercised its option
to cover ‘‘Super-Flop V"’
here this summer; and
enjoys a further option for
the 1980 event.
