The program is iaught in junior high schools by volunteer business people who help students learn about economics, banking, con- sumerism and career options. The key to the success of the program fies in the dedication and enthusiasm of the volunteer business people. Materials and activities from the Project Business teaching manual are used to develop teaching plans. One activity, called DOPEC (Donut Producing and Exporting Countries), allows the class to become a mini-economy with donuts in limited supply. Students bid to purchase a donut and learn first-hand about such concepis as monopolies, competition, pooling of resources and boycotts.
