He quickly became everyone's con- cern because he was obviously very young and under-developed, needing lots of love and #2 Our Dalmatian Molly fell in love with this little, needy kifty and within a week had some- how created a.milk’supply and began to breast- feed Fuzzy Bear. | ‘Molly did a good job of mothering Fuzzy : : Bear; it was a:riot to watch the big dog wash and care for the tiny kitten. You wouldn’t have known all this when your vehicle mowed him down about midnight Sept. 7, four days before Vanessa's birthday. You wouldn’t know that you left hira lying in front of our house with one eye dangling from its socket, one cye bulging with blood and his jaw torn from his face. You wouldn’t know that he screamed al! the way to the emergency clinic in Vancouver, while . Vanessa cried, between throwing up, wondering how long her baby lay there suffer- ing. We are writing this to help with our grief, but also in the hope that you read it and if ever again you are driving down a quiet street and you feel a thump, you will take five minutes out of your life to do the right thing. We loved that cat like family. Thank you to the couple out walking their dog who took the time to knock on our door and ask if this was our cat. Thank you also to the staff at the emergency clinic who sent us a lovely card expressing their care and sympathy. - Vanessa and Irene Ellie North Vancouver L Rox Fuzzy Bear's sad Betrayed by health board Dear Editor: - have been in practice on North “Shore. for 17 I have ‘never felt so ye frustrated and betrayed by.a pup Lite s Supposedly act- for its con- stiuents as en ie recently b the ‘North “Shore Healt ional Board. here. have “been many events well documented how the: yard . has continually chosen to ignore the views of the’ North Shore physicians. Does the board realize the quality of the people lost to the people of the North Shore di ue to the poor deci- sion making of the CEO? How come the board does not have the confidence of a more open process of review? Surely the stakes are high enough. The disruption in com- munication and confidence between the board and the physicians is unprecedented . have you stopped to ask yourselves why? The past relationship the physicians had with the oard and the effective administration and commu- nication at all levels of the hospital used to be one of the best in the province. That has been destroyed. That’s not a legacy Fd be roud of if I sat on the oard. Marc A. That's because the overcrowding will disappear, as many overtaxed commuters instead choose Second Narrows to save over $1,000 in annual tol! charges. Try implementing the tolls tomorrow and watch as traffic patterns magically change. The only fair way to pay for new bridges, roads and improved public transportation is through the gasoline tax. The more one used the Greater Vancouver Regional District road network, the more one pays. I helped pay for the Arthur Laing bridge even though I’ve only been across it twice in my life and [ve yet to drive on the new Barnet Highway. Why shouldn't all the Lower Mainland help pay for a new crossing to the North Shore? . The GVRD announcement that it’s “rush hour all day” clearly indicates the region’s road system is at capacity. With the ominous pian to double the population by 2020, many more expeasive transportation projects will be required. Traffic, pollution, crime and over-crowded schools are poignant reminders as to the true cost of development. Dave Sadler North Vancouver SHIPBERTHING PS RT.
