Be in business of mating minds By Jan Nohte News Reporter A new business in North Vancouver has come up with a differ- ent idea for an escort agency — no sex. Instead, Intellectual Escort Services focuses on bringing people together who are interested in one another from the neck up. “A meeting of minds, nat bodies,” is the firm's philos- ophy. In fact, a company code of conduct forbids Intellectual escorts from harassing clients “with unwelcome sexual advances or engaging in any otherwise unwelcome verbal or physical sexual conduct.” Forsdick Rhodes, the owner of the month-old 225 West ist company, said he got the idea for his firm from taiking to people during his travels in Africa and Europe. Said the 31-year-old Rhodes: “Through my con- versations I find that there is anced for people to talk and communicate. When you go fo a mew town or a new -country ... you want to be able to get in touch with somebody to show you around and‘ do things with without having to worry about the complications of getting emotionally involved with them.” ‘The benefits of Rhodes idea are parroted by his escorts, Peter Fischer, who's an - Intellectual escort partly to further “research” on his 2-books, said poopie a in ‘town can find an escort whe -shares-their interests or has | different interests or experi- ences clients van learn from. An Intellectual Escort promotional pamphlet states that typical clients may require the services of an escort for a business engage- ment or social function. “The choice of an IES escort is that more than just being elegant and classy, our social facilitators are intellec- tualiy-minded people with the training and skills for dealing with people from a wide range of social and occupational backgrounds. They will then be matched with clients with compatible personality and interests,” reads the company’s promo- tional material. Short bios of the compa- ay’s 30 to 40 escorts reveal Katie is in the 26-to-35 age bracket, and speaks English, German, French and Russian.
