left-tum shoot and a traffic
light at this intersection and
the “left on a red” rule defi-
- nitely applies,

North on Lillooet Road then
west past the Coach House
Inn towards Highway One.

That goofy interchange at
Lonsdale Avenue and the
Upper Levels has two left tum
shoots for north and south-
bound traffic. Lefts on reds
are legal here, too.

Finally, there is a left turn
shoot on Taylor Way for
southbound traffic from which
a legal teft on a red may be
made to get onto the Highway
traveling east.

Unfortunately, all these
scenarios have a small flaw:
The left tum shoots are tucked
far back from the actual inter-
section so visibility is limited,

At any rate, traffic is usual-
ly much too heavy in these
areas to perform such a
manoeuvre safely — in which
case the move is illegal.
Safety first, and all that.

It's perfectly legal only

. when many other criteria have
- been met; if you crash, you

the intersection.
In other words, you must
‘be safe about it.

1, A visual check of the cooling syatori for
indications of leaks or excessive of
content.

2. Pressure chock the cooling system for
imatnal and external laaks with filer
cap and neck adapter and testes,

3. Check crankcase and automatic trans-
mission all for water content,

4. Test cootant thermostat with radiator
thermometer.

5. Check tamperature gauge for accuracy.

6. Draln sysiem and flush ti! clean,

7. Gloan foreign matter from radiator fins.

&. Test radiator pressure cap with cap .
