$344,3-million provisional
budget.

The GVRD says nearly all of
the increase is to cover “essential”
upgrading programs.

The improvements include
spending on drinking water and
wastewater (treatment systems, as
well as new hospital construction
and equipment purchases.

The $278 in GVRD taxes paid
by average North Vancouver City
residents will rise by $3 to $281 in
1996.

North Vancouver District tax-
payers will hand the GVRD $2
more for a total tax bill of $381.

Meanwhile, West! Vancouver
taxpayers will pay $455, a $9
increase over last year's bill for
GVRD services.

. There is no residential tax

increase for GVRD programs such
as air quality management, region-
al parks, strategic planning, emer-
gency phone service, municipal
labor relations and general gov-
ernment.

The provisional budget is up
$24.4 million over 1995.
