He immediately called the Department of Fisheries and Oceans and West Vancouver municipal hatl. The sewer and drainage department sent out inves- tigators to find out what was the matter. The matter, according to the supervisor of the sewage and drainage department, was that workers at a subdivision develop- ment in 1700-block of Inglewood had excavated a bit of creek bed, and “a bit of the natural glacial till was disturbed.” Supervisor Brian Robinson said the result looked much like a con- crete spill but was non-polluting. But, he said, the contractor had all the appropriate permits and was taking the right measures to ensure that construction did not affect the creek. “It sounds to me like every- thing’s on the up and up.” he said. Department of Fisheries and Oceans biologist Dave Nanson inspected the site. He said it looked as though the excavation had creat- ed some sediment which filtered through the berm between the creek and the work area. Construction workers were advised to pump the area out and keep it dry. Nanson said the crew is scheduled to pour concrete in the area.
