Step Two Apply moss killer. Those of you over-eagre organic gardeners out there need not suffer a seizure. Most 1:-:: killers are simply some form ton Sulphate. While misuss this soluble salt can cause the same kind of severe burning of the turf as a fertilizer, it is not known to be injurious to the environment. Adding the moss killer at this time rather than prior to power raking will increase the likelihood that all of the moss is eradicated. It also has the side effect of ad- ding residual amounts of iron to the turf thereby promoting good, dark green color. Step Three Overseed the area with a shade tolerant variety grass. ‘‘Shade tol- e.ance’’ does not imply that it will thrive or even survive in shade. It means it has a better chance than one which is not. Creeping rep fescue is best in dry shade while poa trivialis can work in damp shade. Cut the grass as short as you dare and apply at Jabel rates. Wait as long as possible before mowing again. In areas were the grass is ex- cessively thin or in areas which have been recently aerated, top dress with fine sand prior to seeding. Look for ‘‘Engine Sand’’; it is fine and consistent in size and will produce the best results. Step Four Go back to Step Zero. This is the one which promotes the pro- per maintenance of the lawn. Now that you have rid the lawn of its moss, develop practices which will slow down if not prevent its return. the elegant patio cover BALCONY ENCLOSURES © Duvet cover © Shams ® Fitted Sheets SAVE YOUR SUNDECK FROM RAIN Friday, March 29, 1991 ~ North Shore News - -FIANGING BASKETS It's Easter Weekend, Spring has begun and it's time to start your hanging baskets.
