There’s nothing new in this film, but it rates as'a harinless yuk, © yuk, chuckle, chuckle flick with better script and some serious at- tempts at acting. Terri Griffith (Joyce Hyster) is a poor little rich than average. girl with only her voluptuous body and well-muscled mind between her and obscurity. Not content to play the - airhead in life, Terri wants more. She wants to become a serious, investigative, star reporter. Studying jour- nalism at Edwina Pearl High School, she enters a sizzling- hot piece of news copy in a contest to land a summer job on the local daily paper. College’s science department is planning a series of lectures this year, the first of which is this slide- show on China by Dr. Keith Wade of the Biology Depart- ment..;A noted ‘Canadian botanist, Wade was one of a five-member Canadian Botanical Delegation which visited China in 1981. “In horticultural circles, China is frequentiy called ‘The Mother of Gardens,’’ said Wade. ‘‘It is the ancestral home of literally thousands of ovr most popular and beautiful garden trees, shrubs, and herbaceous plants, which were mostly in- troduced to the West in the late 1800's and early 1900's.” Wade's lecture will not on- ly concentrate on plants, though, but will also em- phasize the scenery, architec- ture, and human _ interest aspects of the trip. The Cana- dian delegation visited the provinces of Sichuan and Yunnan, stopping at univer- . sities, botanical institutions, botanic gardens, and also ex- periencing the magnificent mountain scenery with its enormous. variety: of wild plants. — Des The trip’ started with a week in Beijing. (formerly Peking), and was followed by two weeks in Sichuan Pro- vince, the highlight of which ° was climbing 2800m: Mt. : Omei. a - Wade’s lecture will be held at West Vancouver.
