I had great pleasure
reading your article on
Frankfurt and must admit
that the ‘‘Apfelwein’’ really
has a very unusual taste and
certainly doesn’t compare
with the excellent wines
available in Germany.

It is new to us however that
Lufthansa operates creaky
old DC9s, since we have
never purchased any other
planes than B727s or B737s
and the new Airbus for our
short distance flights. It
might be of interest to you to
learn that Lufthansa’s fleet
of about 120 airplanes is the
youngest with an average of
under 5 years compared to an
airline industry average of
almost 10 years.

I read with interest your ar-

while on holidays’’ and |
noticed there was no mention
about the fact that visitors to
Great Britain receive full
medical care free of charge
except for a nominal charge

for drugs
doctor.

If a visitor has to go in
hospital there is no charge at
all including drugs and
medicines.

As a visitor here I] have had
to take out extra insurance
for my stay but in England |
met a Canadian who had
broken his leg and he was
amazed to find that he receiv-
ed first class treatment and
had not even to pay for the
ambulance. It is something
we are proud of and I am
sorry to see Britain was not
mentioned for its generosity
to its visitors.
