Fourteen beauties compete for 1983 Miss North Shore crown

CROWNING of Miss North
Shore 1983 will be the climax
of the Miss North Shore
Pageant talent show this Fri-
day (June 17) at North Van's
Centennial Theatre. Curtain
time for the glamorous

presentation is 7 p.m.
Judging of the 14 entrants
in this year's Pageant has
been proceeding since early
June at receptions, parties
and fashion shows. Friday
evening will bring the final
choice of the winner. her

Luau a popular
Folkfest tradition

THE HAWAIIN LUAU - an
established and _ highly
popular tradition at the start
of North Vancouver's annual
Folkfest week (June 24-30) -
will again move this year's
festivities into high gear.

Billed as “A South Seas
Special”, the Luau feast and
party takes place Saturday,
June 25, from 8:30 p.m. to 1

a.m. in the Capilano Room
of the North Van Recreation
Centre, 23rd and Lonsdale.

The evening features buf-
fet supper, live music, enter-
tainment and dancing.
Tickets ($12.50 per person)
are reportedly going fast.
