First kudos for yourself for realism - telling it “like’it is” - with flair and fascination. The criticism is reserved for the American Express Co. of Canada Ltd. to whit, the Vancouver downtown office of “travel service”. My wife and I travel a great deal, mainly between Park Royal and Horseshoe Bay with occasional trips “South of the Border” -- i.e. across Burrard inlet to the metropolis itself. However, we did manage to get in a visit to Nassau during the local cold spell here which was delight in itself. Everyone American Travellers’ cheques are without question the best thing since sliced bread. So I have written to our local office to find out why the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce in downtown Nassau levies a charge to ‘cash these cheques. But, I'd be spitting mad if I had to pay just for the privilege of cashing them. get your local money? Did you take out. American dollars or local currency? I had another gem of information re: banks and local banks are sending people to Mexico with travellers’ cheques. in CANADIAN FUNDS. Don’t do it. Mexico accepts. American money without too much hassle ~ but Canadian is right back in the realm of “Fuddle bucks”. this little bit of information? NEVER USE CANADIAN FUNDS ABROAD. American is bad enough - and Swiss francs may just be the ones to have. Or West German Deutchmarks. Or, if you're going to be spen- ding all your time in Britain, pounds. But leave our funny money at home, where it belongs. At best, you'll have to line-up at some bank to cash the things. At worst, they won't take them at all. What ever happened to our beautiful country? There are some em- ployces, in Canadians banks, who haven’t the sense to tell you this. Do yourself a favor - use some much more solid currency! Meanwhile, let's find out if the Commerce Bank and Am.Ex. are readers.
