MacMillan Space Centre nauts busy with three new shows. The Cosmic Wizard, a brand-new family oriented show, recently opened at the Planetarium. This entertaining presentation follows the adventures of Leroy, a young boy who journeys across galaxy and discovers that being the mightiest Wizard in the universe isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. Leroy’s galactic quest takes him into the midst of a wild variety of creatures beyond even his own imaginaton. A flying dragon, an evil Wizard, a puppy without a tail, and the constellations of Orion, Ursa Major, Taurus and Cygnus spring to life as his adventure unfolds. The story culminates as Leroy and is friends attem to escape the Wizard’s wrat Will he ever get home again, or will he be swallowed by a gigantic black hole? Combining spectacular Planetarium effects with astronomy and a fantastic story straight out of a young boy's head, The Cosmic Wizard is ideal for a younger family audience. The show is whimsical yet informative with the story of Leroy’s adventures narrated completely in rhyme. The cast of this 25-minute multimedia presentation are all computer- animated, puppet-like video characters. The Cosmic Wizard runs at hoon on weekends and holi- days. Another show, the Science of Simulation, uses an enter- taining combination of videos and demonstrations to illus- trate the role and importance of simulation. After illustrating many of the amazing inven- tions created by Canadians, the show looks specifically at simulation, and explores not only how scientists use it to learn more about space, but why simulation is important even to nen-scientists, The Sciznce of Simulation plays at 2:30 p.m. from Tuesday to Friday, and 12:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. on week- ends and holidays.
