Last _ Monday, district Mayor Don Bell, several councillors and BC Tel execu- tives gathered at the Northlands golf course club- _ house to sign an agreement _. that will see the district move :- toward becoming a “smart oo community.” Calling it “a multi-faceted win-win situation all around,”: Bell ‘said the deal is in line with what the district has been ‘ working toward all along — techriological advancement. . “This is the age of infor- mation,” said Bell. “And cer- tainly this is going to facilitate us moving in that direction.” ; The “smart” concept will -see BC Tel install a fibre-optic network throughout the dis- trict, giving local users access to a network offering high- "| speed telecommunications by ¢ end of this year.
