Kid’z Kab will take to the Streets when kids get set to go back to school in September. It is the brainchild of West Vancouver resident Terina Aqueci, who decided in January that she would start up 2 transportation service taking children to and from school. Her first van, which can seat 11 passengers, is compietely booked, and she will soon have a second Kid’z Kab to service North Van- couver and possibly 2 third to cater to students attenting St. Georges private school in Van- couver. She offers door-to-door service from home to school or any other destination and her vehicles are all government safety inspected. Aqueci, 2 single mother, is a decorator by trade. She said she first thought about starting up Kid’z Kab because she was finding it difficult taking her own children to school, picking them up and running her decorating business at the same time. “It was a real hassle to bug “neighbors and friends to pick up my kids, so I thought ‘why not KID'Z KAB, the idea of West Vanceuver resident Terina Aqueci, will hit the streets of the North Shore in September. She'll now travel with me for part of the But Kid’z Kab is not just a taxi service transporting students to and from school. It’s a fun way to travel. While en route to their destina- tions, children will be able to rock to the sounds of dinosaur rock’n’roll music and will also be given buttons that say: “I rode Kid’z Kab.” The fares are $5 for one way or $8.50 return within West Van- couver. Special charter rates are also available for birthdays and special outings. Aqueci said the service is the first of its kind. “*Teachers have asked me‘why hasn’t anyone done this before?’ People in the neighborhood knew I was doing it, but then it at-. tracted a lot of attention when people saw the Kid’z Kab van. “Drivers on the street would wave to me,’’ said Aqueci. Her vans are equipped with cellular phones, and because of the demand for her service, she now only accepts appointments by advanced bookings. “Our service is conceived out of a need to improve the quality of life for both parents and children as we search for ways to improve our efficiency on a daily basis. “As we must all be aware of the growing number of cars on the road and their impact on the en- vironment, we are faced with the issue of safety for our children and their safe delivery each day to and from school,”’ said Aqueci. She added that she will drive each day until 4:30 p.m. and will then have a part-time driver to take students to functions such as after-school sporting events.
