Corey Cerovsek has become something of a local legend in his Fish printing workshop offered THE NORTH Shore Neighbour- hood House (NSNH) is offering a workshop on Gyotaku, which is an art form more commonly known as fish printing. Gyotaku is the art of japanese fish printing, originally developed: as a means of recording different types of fish. Pasticipants can print- on any material they desire, in- cluding T-shirts, aprons and rice Paper. The course is instructed by Roberta Jones, a professional artist and arts and crafts teacher. Inter- ested participants are asked to pre-register and to pick up a supp- ly tist. The workshop is being held Thursday, Oct. 24 from 6:30 te 9:30 p.m. The fee is $19. Still, he sounds like an average teenager talking over the phone - from his Holiday Inn hotel roe: “Yeah, Vm working. on my doctorate in music with a little math’ thrown in,” he says. “But I've been pretty busy with con- certs. so there's been a little bit of juggling «vith school. It’s a lot of fun, “though. Bloomington is a campus town — it’s kind of cute. And I’ve got a great teacher (Cerovsek has been studying with Russian-born Joseph Gingold. for seven years). He’s a very under- standing person. He's 82 now and he still has 30 students.”’ Sure he’s been enjoying amaz- ing success which took off follow- ing his family’s move to Bloom- ington in 1984, but Cerovse . doesn’t take anything for granted. “Ive still got plenty of work to do. | can’t rest on my laurels.’ Before this time next year, he hopes to have his PhD under his belt.
