Thalidomide victims please register

Dear Editor:

On Feb. 13, Health Minister Perrin Beatty an-
nounced a -proposed settlement of $7.5 million for
Canada’s thalidomide victims.

We immediately set up a study group from the
private sector to examine the proposal, with a view to
making further recommendations to the government.

In the meantime, we are anxious to complete our
roster of those who were damaged by the drugs

distributed in Canada which bore the trade name
Talimol or Kevadon.

Anyone who may suspect that their birth defects
arose from thalidomide should contact the War Amps
of Canada in Ottawa, (613) 731-3821 or 1-800-465-
2677, to register as a member of the Thalidomide Vic-
tims Association of Canada.
