Soccer Blues blank Malaspina

THE CAPILANO Blues men’s soccer team won its Community College at 7 p.m. at Queen’s Park

last league game before the playoffs, shutting down
Malaspina 2-0 on Saturday.

Early in the first half, Shane Carphin scored off a
rebound and with 10 minutes remaining in the second
half, Carphia again found the back of the net with an
assist from Brad Trach.

The Blues now stand in second place in the league
with 12 points after BCIT's 16.

On Friday night, the Blues will meet Vancouver

Stadium while BCIT will be playing Trinity Western

University at the same time in Swangard Stadium.
Capilano coach Joe favobellis says the Blues
squeaked by VCC 1-0 in earlier league play and ex-
pects the semi-final game to be a tight one.
The finals will be held at BCIT at 1:30 p.m. on
Saturday, Nov. 4. The finalist teanis will be going to
the nationals in Calgary over the long weekend,
