IN VANCOUVER Metro Senior
Soccer Division One action, the
West Van Rovers played to a 1-1
draw with the Coquitlam Celtics
before the referee abandoned the
game with 10 minutes to time.

Recurring fouls marred the
match resulting in several yellow
cards and the ejection of one Celtic
player moments before play was
halted.

The Rovers created many scor-
ing chances without success until
Andrew Shillington’s chip from
the left flank caught Celtic goalie
Randy Wolfe by surprise.

Wolfe was outstanding
throughout the match, stopping
the Rovers cold on several well ex-
ecuted plays.

In defense, Rovers’ Mike Hub-
bard anchored a solid performance
but for one miscue resulting in
Celtic Matt Eddy’s goal.

League president Gil McArva
said a decision on the result would
be made after league officials stud-
ied the referee’s report.
