top travel destination this
summer, but travellers to
that part of the world
should plan ahead to make
the best of exchange rates.

“We recommend people pre-pay
their (travel packages) in Canadian
dollars,"” said Pilar Donaldson of
Travel Time International in West
Vancouver.

With many packages including
ear rental, theatre tickets or a
number cf other items, a change in
exchange rates or strong European
currency in relation to Canadian
dollars can spell added costs for
travellers, she explained.

“We are hearing horror stories
about people coming back from

Europe and saying how expensive
it is there (because of exchange
rates),’’ she noted.

With the approach of summer,
rates in Mexico and Hawaii wiil
decrease, but travellers to those
spots will be exposed to higher
summer temperatures,

A good bet for travellers right
now are selected cruises to various
spots.

During the spring and fall, many
cruise lines move their vessels from

one area to the other to take ad-

‘vantage: of the seasonal weather
_ differences.

These particular cruises —
known as positioning .cruises —
offer travellers a good chance to

‘find. some real bargains for their

vacation dollars.
