Younger teens can find chai CHALLENGE, COOPERATION, fun and discovery are what summer is all about if you are between the ages of 11 and 15 years. Summer Discovery is a brand new program running weekly at the North Vancouver Recreation Centre beginning Mon., July 6. ‘*Opportunities are numerous for younger children, and many older teens work during the summer,’’ says recreation centre programmer John Mullan; ‘“‘but we also feel there are younger teens who are looking for challenge and excitement in the summer. Self- discovery is personal and can happen in many ways."’ Says Mullan, ‘‘We’ll provide activities like kayaking and overnight camping, trips to museums and special lenges thi S Summer events, and opportunities for self-expression including art, creative writing, skits and music.” Some trips and activities are planned, but much of the program is up to those enrolled. If there is enough interest in a particular activity, sport or out-trip, the: | recreation centre will try to offer it. “And no matter what we do,’’ adds Mullan, ‘‘this program will run in the spirit of exploration, expres- sion and enjoyment.”’ Registration is happening now at any North Van- couver Recreation Commission facility.
