Not because he is an expert on China, but because a fortunate oppor- tunity will allow him and his wife Alice to teach English for a year in Guangzhou, China The Kilians left August 25 for China, and Crawford, who teaches communica- tions and freelance magazine writing at Capilano College, will teach composition and British and American literature at the Guangzhou Institute of Foreign Languages. Another Capilano College instructor, Frances Burstein, taught there for a year, and has réturned to North Van- couver. ; Kilian doesn’t really fit in- to any of the stereotypes for writers. He isn't even strictly a science fiction author, hav- ing delved into everything from technical writing to education reporting to history.
