Before entering the legal field, he began his profession- al career as a project engineer for the City of Vancouver after earning a civil engineer- ing degree from __ the University of B.C. in 1975. Haythorne’s position as a lawyer in the field of con- struction engineering law brings a new dimension to APEGBC. The association continues to promote the diversity of roles that engincers and gco- scientists play in today’s soci- ety. “Our association is very diverse, but our concept of professionalism and duty*to the public is one element that unifies all our members,” said Haythorne in his acceptance address. Haythorne has __ been involved extensively with the association since 1983.
