North Shore Community Information and Resource Society has announced a competition for a new iogo. Two North Shore non-profit societies, North Shore Community Services and North Shore Child Care Resource Society have joined to form one new agency. To complete the transition, the agency is seeking a new Jook. Seymour Carly Buchanan of North Vancouver was awarded a $5,000 scholarship and a medallion by Premier Ujjal Dosanjh at the annual Premier’s Excellence Awards ceremony in Vancouver last month. Buchanan, who graduated from Windsor secondary school in June 1999, is studying arts at the University of British Columbia. Her goal is to pursue a career in writing, teaching or medicine. In addition to her excellent aca- demic performance, Buchanan distinguished her- self as a volunteer at a down- town soup kitchen and through her service as an assistant to special needs stu- dents. West Vancouver During the World Vision 30-hour famine on April 14, 61 West Vancouver students fasted for 30 hours and raised almost $4,000 for the cause.
