pared to do jury duty. Those accused of crime have a
right to be judged by a jury of their peers and we're it,
Jurors swear to be an impartial judge of their case and
deliver a verdict without sympathy or bias towards the
accused. That's the oath North Van’s Gillian Guess
swore before embarking on an affair with accused mur-
derer Peter Gill, the man she she was supposed to
impartially judge, the man her jury ultimately found
nat guilty. That’s the oath a jury found Guess guilty of
breaking in a case that was the First of its kind in North America. Guess has gone
to jail asking how she can show remorse for a crime she says she did not commit
and that she cannot rule her heart. Did she deserve an 18-month jail sentence?
After all, she will never be in a position to commit a similar crime, But then oth-
ers will. Her lawyer has already appealed her conviction.
