Sales in June outpace

sold through B.C.'s Multiple
Listing Service this past June
totaled 5,779 units, 415 more
than the same month last
year. reports Doug Perry,
president of the — British
Columbia Real Estate
Associition (BCREA ).

“Province-wide, it is still
an active market.” says Perry,
although he notes that sales
have slowed a bit since May
when 6.498 residential prop-
erties were sold,

dynamics of the market
place. Says Perry, “We hive
seen changes in the economic

buyers, both from Asia and
Europe as well as other parts
of Canada, and a change in
the demographics of the
province.”

As long as we are in this
period of change, he says, it
is difficult to compare current
market conditions to past
“certaintivs.”

spective,” he adds, “there is a
good supply of housing on
offer. Mortgage rates are sta-
ble, and the buyers are there.
Potential buyers are wise to
have a pre-arranged mort-
gage in phice. Many buyers, |
know, are keen to get the
lowest interest rate they can
on their mortgage. A- pre-
arronged mortgage gives
them some flexibility in that
area, and the funds to pur-
chase the ideal home in their
price range are avaihible
when that right home comes
along.”
