The program provides in- formation and support to those who have suffered the loss of a loved one through death. ‘Grief is a natural response to such a loss and it is experi- enced uniquely by individuals. However, there are common reactions and some coping Strategies which can be helpful to discover,”’ say organizers. Understanding and sharing the grief process with sym- pathetic listeners helps to ease the burden to some degrce and promotes healing. The group leader, Elizabeth Mendgen, has special training in facilitating grief recovery, as does her assistant, Delores . Caswell. The ongoing support group that follows the program meets twice monthly and is optional, but recommended. It is ted by Marilyn Elvidge, a_ trained group facilitator. People interested in the grief recovery program should _pre- register as group numbers wili be limited and confirmation of acceptance is necessary. A full six-week commitment is re- quired by all participants.
