KING NEPTUNE’S GREAT LAND AND SEA RACE SEVENTY SPORTS enthusiasts turned out to the King Neptune’s Great Land and Sea Race over the weekend with local athlete Gary: Parsons leading the pack.- By EVELYN JACOB News Reporter Parsons, cf Nonh Vancouver, was the overall winner of the race. He finished first in the Iron Man category, which includes running, biking and kayaking, in 28 minutes, 16 seconds. Just one second behind Parsons were the winners of the Men's Open event --- locals Kent Calder- wood, Devin Denboer, Touis Tutti and Rob Tupper — who crossed the finish line in 28 minutes, 17 se- conds, A total of 23 teams took part in the Land and Sea Race, which the Sears family of Deep Cove started nine years ago. This ‘year’s .event was presented by the Mt. Seymour Lions Club and the North Van- couver Recreation Commission. Organizer Diana Howard said the annual race is a ‘‘total com- munity event.’’ “It takes a huge number of people (1C0O in all) to put it on,” she said.
