With pre-season wins over Burnaby Under 16s and a tie against the Under 18 squad from Burnaby along with a 2-0 win over the North Shore Under 18s, the North Shore squad is looking strong. And last Wednesday, the locals started off their cam- paign in the select league with a 2-0 win over Delta which could have been more but for a pair of goals that were call- ed back. Then the following Wednesday, Alouette Under 16s discovered the strength of the North Shore entry as they were defeated 7-1 after hav- ing scored the first goal of the match played at Harris Park in Pitt meadows. Todd Collinge picked up a hat trick in the win with a pair going to Dino Accili. The first game played at the North Vancouver Recrea- tion Centre Sunday, February 5, was all North Vancouver as they complete- ly dominated play, out- shooting NSWC 24-7 in the first period of the game. The final outcome seemed in- evitable; however, sloppy backchecking on the part of North Vancouver in the se- cond period allowed the tenacious Winter Club team to pull within two goals, and only fine goaltending by North Vancouver’s Peter Milkovich prevented them from gaining further. MARKSMEN Joseph George and Brad Fanos led the North Van- couver attackers with a goal and two assists each. Danny Payne and Shane O’ Neill also played well, each gathering two assists. Myles Rosser had a goal and one assist, with the scoring rounded off by Bob McQuay and Rhett Martin with a goal apiece. North Shore marksmen were Earle and Cox with one Tough race to the A PAIR of third period goals by Aimie Lehouillier led the Old Buzzards to a 4-1 victory over the Firefighters. Meanwhile the North Shore Under 18s are still try- ing to figure out how to get the jump on this young and exciting team, being held to a scoreless draw last week in an exhibition contest. However, in league action the Under 18 entry from the North Shore had better luck taking a tough 1-0 win over Delta on a late goal by Chad « Chillibeck. Coached by Bob Buchan, for former Scottish pro who has coached regional and select teams for a number of years, the North Shore under 16s will be out to take their second league victory on Saturday, February 18 when they take on the Lower Island Under 15s at Capilano Col- lege field. Game time is 2:00 p-m. following the North Shore Under 18s also against Lower Vancouver Island. Ray Mer- rifield scored for the first time since the opening game of the season. The Canadians ied 101 late in the third period, then stopped skating as the War- nors pumped in three quick goals. Special mention should be made of the improved play of both Kristee Watson and Kari Larkin on Blue Stick. Tween B Diggers (McConnell Air Conditioning) moved in- to first place in their league with a decisive win over NSWC 8-3. The Diggers leave for a tournament in Ed- monton this Friday for the weekend, as do the NSWC Ringette Split Tween B team. The Tween A team lost to Poco 6-1 in a very fast and exciting game. Franzi Mueller picked up the lone goal. The Belle A team tied with PoCo 3-3. Terry Scott got a hat trick for the N.W. Van team. The Belle B #1 also tied their game against PoCo 3-3. This team is also going to the Edmonton tournament this weekend. The Belle B#2 won over Langley 7-1, with Sarah Jenkins getting four of the goals while Alison Ground- water, Laura Grandison and Tracy Wilson each brought i in a point. Synchro’s swim THE B.C.
