looks good. Before you'go to
your beauty shop to seek the
advice of an expert, here are
a few things you must know
about hair color." ~

© Thin hair can be made to
look thicker by highlighting
with a color close to the ©
original shade.

e Women with olive skin
should choose pinkish red
tones and those with pale
skin can use a clearer red.

® Browns should be the
same color as hair or a shade
or two lighter. Never darker.

e Hair is never one color.
To achieve the most natural
looking effect, more than

one shade, in the same color _

family, should be used.

© Round faces need height
to “shape” them. Color hair
at the centre front, shading
slightly darker toward the
back.

¢ For a square face, hair
should be kept darker
around the hairline, with

lighter tones just behind the
ears. If there are bangs, they
should remain dark.

e If skin tone and hair
color are not compatible,
(sometimes nature makes
imperfect matches) it’s
easier to change your hair
color with highlights,
frosting, streaking or tip-
ping. None of them require
tough ups the way per-
manent color does and it

. does not wash ut either.

e Color on color. Two
‘tories give ‘your style a lot of
deepness and motion. Select
one. ortwo. shades lighter in
the same range.

Your hairdresser will be
the first one surprised when
he finds out that you know so
much about hair color.

But don’t forget. Hair-
coloring is a measuring
business. An ounce of this
and an ounce of that. The
best hair colorists, like the
best cooks, know by instinct
and experience the exact
proportions to use to achieve
the best results.

Playhouse creates
student acting fund

The Vancouver Playhouse
has created a Playhouse
Acting School Endowment
Fund for deserving students.

Michael Francis,
president of the Playhouse’s
Board of Governors, said

recently the fund will
provide scholarships and
bursaries to students

enrolled in the Playhouse
Acting School.

Money wil also be
available for other
educational purposes, the
Playhouse announced.
