These early years lormed a lifetime love affair be- tween Herb and horses. He spent a reat part of his younger life working with horses and a great part of his ister years collecting horse sculptures, pictures, and memorabilia. (t was also in Saskat- chewan that Herd met his liftime partner, Pearl Rowen, in 1937. They were married on April 3, 1940, and in this marriage were horn six children, a daughter Bev, and five sons Lloyd, Tom, Leith, ‘Glen, and Don. Herb and Pearl farmed’ their homestead in Prairie River and were a vital part of their close knit farm- ing community, The many triend- ships cultivated during these times and nurtused over the years have remained strong and supportive to Herb and his family. Herb’s strong sense of famity lead him to decide to move to Vzicouver in November, 1956, where he worked, raised his fay, and became a lifetime member of the independent Order of Foresters, the Lynn Valley Masonic od e No. 122, and th Royal Ar jo. 16.
