NV cadets best
in the province

NORTH VANCOUVER’S air
cadet squadron has soared to
the top in B.C,

> The 103 Thunderbird Squadron
of the Royal Canadian Air Cadets
was awarded the prestigious “best
squadron in B.C." award for 1994-
‘95 ‘at a banquet Oct. [4.

- The annual banquet was hosted
by. the British Columbia branch of
the Air Cadet league of Canada, All
43 cadet groups in competition
were judged on citizenship, leader-
ship and special team skills such as
first aid, band and outdoor survival.

“There was great support from
the local sponsors <and business
community last year, but most of

the credit woes to the young people
of the North Shore for their hard
work, stubborn refusal to quit and
teamwork that came together to
make they the best of the best,” said
Capt. Patricia Mulhall, the com-
manding officer of the

Thunderbirds for the past four:

years,

A trophy was presented to the
cadets on Oct, 25 at the squadron's
monthly parade and inspection at
the Forbes Avenue Armory.

The co-educational air cadet
program in B.C. involves approxi-
mately 2,000 youths aged 12 to 18.
The 103 Thunderbird Squadron.
comprising 85 cadets, is open to all
North Shore youth at no cost.

Recommendations:

“THAT the Consultant's Report entitled “Lower Lonsdal2 Safe City Initiative Final Report”, be
referred to the Development Liaison Committee, Social Planning Advisory Committee, Advisory
Committee on Disability Issues, and the Advisory Design Panel, for review and comment;

AND THAT Planning Division staff be directed 10 coordinate the comments of the above
mentioned groups in a report to Council that includes potential actions to address the
recommendations contained in the Consultant's report and taking into account issues raised at
the November 6, 1995 Policy Committee Meeting of Council;

AND THAT the Mayor send a letter to the community volunteers who participated as members
of the Safe City Initiative Advisory. Committee, expressing the City’s appreciation: for their
commitment to this project.”
