year-old daughter drowned on
"Tuesday in Lynn Canyon Park.

The deceased were spotted
floating in shallow water near Twin
Falls in Lynn Creek by a hiker,
according to North Vancouver
RCMP Staff Sgt. Bob Brown.

“We feel it’s accidental,” said
Brown.

He said the bodies were spotted
a few hours after the park visitors
ied.

Brown said the family has
requested that the names of the
Gead people not be released.

Brown said the mother and wife
of the deceased was in Vancouver
attending a major dental confer-
ence.

The dead man’s brother lives in
North Vancouver.

Brown said the man had a video
camera with him when he went for
a walk with his daughter in the
park.

“We don’t know if he was video
taping. We are processing that
now,” said Brown.

Drowning is the preliminary
cause of death of the two.

The Vancouver coroner’s office
and the North Vancouver RCMP
are investigating.

The fatalities are first in two
years at the park. Previous deaths
were primarily related to risk-tak-
ing.

CONSERVATION OFFICERS killed a bear on
Wednesday night after the animal was hit by a car near
Main Street and the Trans-Canada Highway in North
Vancouver.

The bear was bleeding and was believed to be danger-
cus after being severely injured, according to a North
Vancouver RCMP spokesman. Police estimated the 1989
Honda which hit the bear sustained $3,000 damage.

Man jailed

A 29-YEAR-OLD man was jailed on Sept. 9 for one year
in connection with charges of possessing a butterfly knife
and stolen property in North Vancouver District.

Darin Leslie Hagel, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty
to three charges steraming from a Sept. 5 incident. The
stolen property included a man’s Nissan truck and jeans
and a jean shirt belonging to a female.
