ridge jumper A 35-YEAR-OLD New Westminster man died on Monday after Jumping from the centre span of the Second Narrows Bridge. Ports Canada Police and coast guard auxiliary recov- ered the'man’s body, but rescue personnel were unable to resuscitate him. The incident occurred at 5 p.m. on the west side of the bridge. The man’s name was not released. Escapee arrested A 28-YEAR-OLD escapee from the Chilliwack Correctional Centre was arrested on Monday morning after allegediy driving a stolen 18-wheeler in West Vancouver. West Vancouver Police stopped the 1994 rig near the Horseshoe Bay area. Robert Edward Mellish is charged with possessing stolen property over $1,000, driving without a licence and being unlawfully at large. Outstanding journalist passes away at age 71 MAC REYNOLDS, an award-win- ning newspaperman who lived in West Vancouver, died suddenly Oct. 12 of a heart attack. Mr. Reynolds, 71, had been a columnist, editorial writer, features writer and editor with the Vancouver Sun.
