One must not take Quickly too
seriously, for fear that she may
have another fit. But a short ex-
planation of what all this is all
about is in order because she has
never mentioned it.

When the Hon. J.V. Clyne criti-
sizes our sell-out immigration
system, though, she mounts her
broom and goes riding. She hints
that at his age he may be a bit dot-
ty. In the same column she talks
about ‘‘iunatics and cxtremists.”’
That is not the language of hate,
of course.

She howls when I describe her as
“a weeping fem.”” Well, that too is
factual reporting. Didn't she give
us the story of how she was so
keen to get her first job with the
Province that she burst into tears
during the interview?

NV District
Council
asks staff
to prepare
mudflats
report

NORTH VANCOUVER District
Council responded quickly at
Monday night’s meeting to an
earlier plea from an environmental
delegation for a nature sanctuary
on the Maplewood mudflats by
asking for a staff report on the
proposal.

In moving adoption of the plan
Presented by the Western Canada
Wilderness Committee and the
Vancouver Natural History Socie-
ty, Ald. Emie Crist said, ‘I am
basically very much in favor of the
proposal which has been made.
However, in all fairness, I think it
should be stated that what we re-
quire is a staff report so that we
can make an intelligent decision
and make appropriate recommen-
dations to the National Harbor’s
Board (which is now the Van-
couver Port Corp.).”"

Council asked staff to have their
report prepared by the end of Feb-
ruary.
