Friends win
two games

_ THE FIRST-PLACE Friends won
two games over the Jan. 31
weekend -in the North Shore In-
termediate Men’s Recreational
Hockey League.

‘In the team’s first game, the
Friends trimmed D&B Auto 3-2,
and then turned around and
doubled L.A. Tavern 4-2.

L.A. Tavern also lost to White's -
Automotive 5-3, who also beat
Larry's 4-2,

Greg Morris had a goal and an
assist for White’s in the team’s vic-
tory over Larry’s.

Pete Bowman was credited with
one goal and one assist for
Larry’s.

Ansari takes titles

NORTH VANCOUVER’S § 12-
year-old Sofia Ansari took the
Vancouver Istand Junior. Squash
Championship’s under 14 to 16
combined girls’ event by defeating
Vancouver Racquet Club’s 15-
year-old Errin Wills 9-3, 9-1, 9-1 in
the finals.

Ansari, who trains at the Park
Plaza and Evergreen Squash
Clubs, also entered the boys’ under
14 competition and defeated Mike
Brown of Victoria, 3-1 to take that
category.

The tournament was held in
Nanaimo Jan. 30 to Feb. 1.
