to the rest of you, but they are both simple,

straightforward combinations of ingredients,
what I call the stir-and-dump, kind of recipe, that
gives immediate satisfaction.

Men are so basic, so open
and uncomplicated; look at
their games, look at the way
they dress, for heaven's
sake. Obviously, results are
what they’re after.

Before 1 dig myself any
deeper into that hole, here is
the first one, a magnificent
quick bread absolutely

Heat the oven to
325F(165C);, and grease two
smallish bread pans, 7% x

In a big bow!, combine and
stir with a fork

1 cup all-purpose

flour

1 cup whole wheat

(or Triticale) flour (250mL)

4 tsp. baking soda (2.5mL)

the loaves cool, and when
completely so wrap each and
leave them overnight before
slicing. Excellent.

The second recipe came
from my friend Ruth, and is
a superb, moist Chocclate
Cake that is mixed right in
the pan that you bake it in.
No greasing or flouring for
the pan, just do what it says
and stand back for the com-
pliments. Turn the oven on
to heat to 350F(180C),

When it’s ready, put into a

regulation cake pan (9 x 9

inches equals 23 x 23 cm):

2 squares semi-sweet
chocolate

1 square of bitter
chocolate

Y2 cup vegetable oil

Slide the pan into the hot

oven for 4 minutes, then br-

ing it out and stir to blend.

Add

¥% cup cold water

1 cup white sugar

1 whole egg

1% cups all-purpose
flour

a dash of salt

¥2 tsp. baking soda (2.5mL)

1 tsp. vanilla (SmL)

Beat it all with the flat of a

fork for two whole minutes.

Smooth the top, and

sprinkle over it

Stick it into the oven for 40
minutes or until the
toothpick comes out clean,
allow it to cool before cut-
ting.
