On the evening of October 22 within the space of two minutes, the Vancouver Regional Branch received two separate telephone calls pertaining to injured animals, one on Mountain Hwy and the second on Mt. Seymour Parkway. The specially trained staff responded immediately to the needs of the injured animals. However, the person who gave the information § in respect to the incident on Mt. Seymour Hwy. gave an incor- rect address. Subsequently, when the error was rectified, the response was immediately undertaken and the animal was picked up. The statement that it took one and a half hours is totally incorrect. The animal in question was brought immediately to the Animal! Hospital and was ex- amined by a qualified veterinarian who indicated that there was bleeding from the nose, but there were no internal injuries and the color of the animal was excellent. The dog however was in a state of shock. The following morning the animal was further examined by another veterinarian who considered that the animal needed rest for a matter of two or three days. This monitored rest was given. On Oct. 24 the animal was adver- tised as being found and that it was in the SPCA animal Hospital. On Oct. 24 the animal was further examined Salutes election helpers Dear Editor I would like to take this op- portunity to thank the many voters who supported me in the election on November 19. 1 would also like to thank my many friends who put in countless hours of work and gave me the moral support. 1 would also like to thank the North Vancouver District staff who were very helpful during the pre-election and on election day. Dear Editor While walking past the North Vancouver Cenotaph, 1 stopped to look at the wreaths that had been placed there the day before for Remembrance Day The wreaths were all made of plastic These brave men and women should not be temembered with = artificial fowers | think that they deserve better than that Bian Gorbell North Vancouver and was discharged to the SPCA Shelter in Vancouver. During the animal’s stay in the Hospital! it was noted that the condition of the ears was unacceptable and these were even cleaned. On. Oct. 25, the dog was claimed by the owners who expressed their delight in the actions taken by the SPCA of removing their animal from the street, applying the best medical and veterinary atten- tion, hospitalization for four days and the charge was an are completely contrary to those expressed by your correspondent. In this particular case, the animal did receive the quality of care which was required and in addition, there was no question of somebody to pay the bill because the SPCA Animal Hospital supplies medical care to injured animals whether they have an owner or not. Surely, $24.00 is hardly an exorbitant fee. Voters, I applaud your in- terest and concern for this community. As a newly-elected member to City council, I look for- ward to the task of par- ticipating in government with great enthusiasm and a measure of deep concern. The term, to be marked by continued restraint, may not be kind to municipal govern- ments in this province.
