Dean said Monday.

A letter brought before
council from the North Shore
branch of the Citizens United
for Safety and Justice Society

said that in ‘‘many ‘corner
convenience’ stores in North
Vancouver, hard-care porno
magazines are .. . for sale.’’
It said this material is at
**child’s eye level’’, and sug-
gested that steps be taken to
get it out of the reach of
children.

Dean said City council had
previously received a similar

complaint, and it was sug-
gested at a meeting of the
police liaison committee that
an officer would visit ‘‘stores
displaying this kind of
material, as this is a (crim-
inal) office.’’

Store owners were to be
asked by the officer to place
such material ‘‘higher, or in
paper bags,’’ said Dean.
