Two Hillside students brought home awards from the B.C. Festival of the Arts in Penticton May 22 to 26. The student entries were among 70 from schools throughout the province. Grade 8 student Dallion McGregor placed first in the Classical Animation category for grades 8,9 and 10. The producer and creator of the cell-animated video Bungee Doom was also awarded the Peoples Choice Award. McGregor's moving images were the result of an animation course offered by the scheol's art teacher, Royal! Plant. - Grade 9 student Brett Liljefors was award- ed first place in the Computer Media category for grades 8, 9 and 10. His computer-animated video, titled A Day in the Life of an Abstract Ball, was also named Best Overall Video in his grade category. Liljefors creation was the result of a social studies project under the guid- ance of teacher Nancy Masterman-Boyd. At fast year’s film festival, held in‘ Kamloops, Hillside students picked up first, second and third-place awards as well as Peoples Choice honors.
