North Vancouver Ciry Coun. Bob Fearnley’s reckless ambush of Coun. Barbara Sharp‘s reputation was based on poor homework and politi- cally motivated. It proves ther anyone can get headlines if they make a serious allegation, even when those allegations could easily be found to be false. Was it politi- cally motivated? OF course it was, ard as such Fearnley should disqualify himself from office, the same demand he made of Sharp. Fearnley based his angu- ments of conflict on his erro- Neous assumption that Borbara Sharp voted on a marter that changed city hiring policy of the fire chief to allow her hus- band (a captain in the fire hall) to be eligible to apply tor the job. If he had bothered to ask the city administrator Ken Tolstom betore his outlandish accusation he would have found thar Coun. Sharp also voted to increase the qualifica- tions to a point that made it impossible tor her husband to qualify. So in the end, Fearnley shot a round of political blanks. He succeeds in falsely smearing the - repuraton of Barbara Sharp without paying any conse- quences. Was there a vo-con- spirator? Pm nor sure, but someone said they saw may- oralty candidate “Rod Clark running from the grassy knoll near city hall with bis rail benveen his legs.
