Cancer society warns of colleciion scams THE Canadian Cancer Society (CCS) never asks for donations over the phone. That’s the message the agency is publiciz- ing in the days leading up to its annual door- to-door campaign during the month of April. Donors need to know exactly to whom their donation is going, says the agency. If there is any doubt or question, rake a name, telephone number and the name of the orga- nization. Tell the caller you will get back to them if you are interested, the agency advises. CCS volunteers always seck donations in pegson, carry complete identification and Issue a receipt, no matter what the amount of the donation. — Layne Christensen » NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING FAR YE HEAR YE Be ZONING BYLAW AMENDMENT NOTICE is hereby given by the City of North Vancouver, pursuant to Section 892 of the Municipal Act of British Columbia, that a Public Hearing will be held on MONDAY, MARCH 9,1998 at 6:00 P.M. in the Council Chamber, City Hall, 141 West 14th Street, North Vancouver, B.C., to receive representations in connection with the following proposed amendment to “Zoning Bylaw, 1995, No. 6700”, andthe “Zoning Map of the City of North Vancouver”, which is an integral part of “Zoning Bylaw, 1995, No. 6700”: ny NEWS photo Paul McGrath —_ — > syiaw NO. 6941 ARTISTS (left to right) Patricia Ballard, Dene Croft, Michael Graham, Lindsay _ McInnis and (missing from photo) Geoff Farnsworth exhibit their mixed-media a works in Faces, a show at the Ferry Building Gallery, W.V., March 10 to 29.
