The National Bank of Ireland
touring soccer team defeated the
Capilano Blues men’s soccer team
1-0 May 4 at Capilano College.

The Blues took the game to the

. Irish squad early but could not
break through the Bank’s defen-
sive line.

The Irish retaliated with several
close shots, one forcing Cap
fullback Ian Hay to make a spec-
tacular save after Blues’
goalkeeper Wayne McIntosh had
been beaten.

The first hatf continued in much
the same manner with both sides
producing excellent scoring oppor-
tunities but neither could capital-

In the second half, Bank of
Ireland’s pin-point passing began
to take its toll on the Blues. But
great goaltending and a strong
defence kept Ireland off the
scoreboard.
